Joel was so excited to be bathed and clothed in blue clothing. Before we received
many generous gifts of baby boy clothes, Joel's Daddy maintained that it would indeed be perfectly acceptable for his Baby B to wear the color pink while at home (we had an abundance of baby girl clothes :o) But, fortunately, Joel was spared that fate, and is definitively marked by his wardrobe as a baby boy. As mentioned in the Baby Scorecard, Joel's head ultrasound did show a very small (3 mm) hemmorhage on the left side of his brain. The doctors rate this type of bleeding as "grade 1" (which is the least serious rating). The mark is currently so small that the doctors aren't even sure that it's still "active"...he'll have a follow-up ultrasound in about a week to see if the mark has disappeared. It should be noted that Joel does not exhibit any symptoms, and that the doctors were so unconcerned that they didn't even stop by to discuss it (it's really that insignificant).
"Snug as a bug in a rug" is Ella's motto. 30 1/2 weeks of being squished as Baby Atlas by her sister and brother seeminly has had a lasting effect: she loves to cuddle up into a little ball. As mentioned in the Baby Scorecard, Ella no longer has need of IV nutrition... she's doing so well with her feedings that she's already exceeded her birth weight.
Poor Grace. We were going to give her a bath this afternoon so that she could model some fashionable premie clothes for us, but she was a few tenths of a degree too cold, so she had to wait. It seems however that she was not extremely upset, as you can see from her relaxed position and big yawn (she'll be clothed sometime this evening by the nurses).
This picture shows Jade getting ready to read Ella a story in German. We intend to have Jade speak only German to the babies so that they grow up bi-lingual (they'll have an accent, but no matter). This will be an exciting way for Jade to bond with the babies and for them to learn a valuable skill with almost no effort. His story of choice is a 6-novel (approximately 2000 page) series called
Das Waldröschen by Karl May.
