Ella--Ella has now solidly cracked the three-pound mark. She tends to sleep a lot and something about her still seems so tiny. When she opens her eyes, they drift off in different directions (rather bizarre!).
Joel--Joel celebrated his first "spontaneous" significant #2 yesterday!!! Previously, the nurses had been giving him glycerin to help things along. He has now hopped onto the weight-gain band wagon and is slowly creeping up, gram by gram.
Grace--Gracie by far has the most control of her eyes. She can actually open both eyes at once, wide, and move and track each of them in tandem. She's been a bit less whiny now that she gets to wear such cute outfits (several of our friends have expressed avid approval of the ruffles :o)
All babies--Weight gain is the next objective for our little ones. Once they reach a weight of 1500 grams (just about 3 lbs 5 oz), and are able to maintain their body temperature without heating above 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), they can take a trial run in an open air crib. Right now, the girls are at 31 degrees C, while Baby B (Joel) is at 32 degrees C. So they are really getting close. Grace is hopefully on the cusp of weight gain.
We're excited that our family and friends can now hold the babies (so long as their temperatures are within limits).
Ginger has been visited by several of her favorite nurses from the Family Birthing Center who took care of her during her 72-day sojourn in the wilderness (i.e. bed rest). This has provided a nice break for her throughout the day.
Also, there has been unanimous consensus that our babies are the cutest, best, nicest, sweetest, and most intelligent babies ever (100% of biological parents responded emphatically in the affirmative, with a 0% margin of error).
