Day 14

Ginger

Ginger is doing great. She has actually experienced very little pain and discomfort in the aftermath of the delivery. Several times, she's commented that--if she had not been in such pain for the weeks leading up to the delivery--things would perhaps now be more difficult for her. But because of the extreme pain she was in for the last 3 weeks before delivery... she pain from the surgery has been a breeze! She's tired (sleep is often interrupted by a disobedient kitten), but her energy levels are slowly increasing. She has also started driving again! :o) This enables her to have more flexibility as she spends time with the babies in the NICU.

And finally baby Ella's hand. She didn't want to comply with mandatory family photos.

Snug as Bugs in Rugs

Little Gracie looking tired... she really fights sleep (she'll be stretching and yawning but does all she can to keep her eyes open). It will be interesting to see whether she objects to nap time as a little girl.

The inevitable happens and our gem falls asleep... our little Baby C now weighs 3 lbs 1 oz. She claims to have gained 100 gram from yesterday to today (about 3 1/3 ounces), but suspiciously, she filled two diapers to capacity today. So some of those alleged gains may have gone down the drain :o)


Our Baby A now has her isolette temperature turned down to 29 degrees Celsius. Her weight today was 3 lbs 3 ounces... I think she wants to over-achieve and be the first to jump ship into a crib.

Ella was all about opening her eyes wide today. I think she was scared about the twists and turns in the plot of Das Waldröschen (Daddy was reading to her again today).


Joel really likes to sleep with his arms covering his face (like his daddy, who often sleeps with his arms over his head on the pillow).

The final snug bug. Joel is our tropical baby... his isolette temperature is still set at 32 degrees Celsius, but he has now exceeded his birth weight and tips the scales at 3 lbs 6 and 2/3 ounces! He could be the dark horse who upsets Ella in the race for the crib.


It's well known that pets at times show a bit of trepidation when new babies come home. It is difficult for them to have the majority of their owners' attention directed towards the new arrivals.

Apparently our Man Kitten has elected to be proactive and preemptive. He donned this lovely outfit to show us that a set of cute and adorable triplets ai'n't got nothin' on a Floofy Shelter Kitten.
