To everyone's surprise, Joel worked all night to convince his nurses that he, too, was ready for transition to the wide wide world of open air. Although he
almost lost his privileges today (due to a 97.9 degree temperature reading), he was put on probation. He may still probably make it to the end of his 24-hour trial period (before they remove the isolette completely.
Here is little Grace all snuggled in. She's been steadily gaining weight, which of course will help her to maintain her temperature. Her 24-hour trial will end later on this evening.
I think Ella looks like a fashion model, peering coquettishly from behind her stylish hat. Ella completely rocked her 24-hour trial, and is now working without a safety net.
Ginger's Aunt Colleen has sewn three beautiful quilts for each of our children. Shown here is Joel's quilt (background) and Ella's quilt (foreground). Grace's quilt is still in progress and will have a yellow bow. There is a speical story behind the color of each of the bows! It was extremely thoughtful and we feel so blessed to have such a wonderful, talented Aunt!!!
Our bishop's wife--Allayne Orr--made these extraordinary gowns for the blessing of our babies. Each of the gowns is embroidered with each baby's own name, and will certainly be a beautiful momento for them throughout their lives. Additionally, she also sewed and embroidered beautiful and soft quilts for our children. In the L.D.S. church, an infant is blessed by its father and officially given its name. This ceremony is analogous to christening within other Christian religions.
As Jade was proudly examining his growing tomato plants several days ago, he suddenly noticed a little friend perched on the trellis. This little guy looked like he had just flown the nest, and Jade was able to get within 3 feet of him to take this picture. He was probably about 2 inches tall. After posing for this photo, he flew safely away to be with the other birdies in a far more secure location (our man kitten is still upset about having to wear that dress and is out to reinforce his masculinity... this birdie could have bit the dust through our kitten's attempt to prove himself). Close call averted.
